What Is Hyperhidrosis?

It's Not Just "Running Hot." It's a Medical Condition.

Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating that goes beyond what the body needs for temperature regulation. It can affect the underarms, palms, soles of the feet, forehead, or other areas -- often regardless of heat, exertion, or stress level.

If you're changing shirts mid-day, avoiding handshakes, soaking through fabric without warning, or planning your wardrobe around where you might sweat -- this is more than a minor inconvenience. And it's treatable.

  • Sweat that soaks through clothing without physical exertion
  • Visible sweat on the palms during everyday activities
  • Excessive forehead or scalp sweating in normal temperatures
  • Antiperspirants that no longer work -- even clinical-strength
  • Social anxiety or avoidance tied to sweating
Where We Treat

Treatment Areas

We treat the most common areas affected by hyperhidrosis. If you're concerned about an area not listed, ask us at your consultation.

Underarm hyperhidrosis treatment with neurotoxin
Most Common

Underarms (Axillae)

The most frequently treated area for hyperhidrosis. Injections are placed across the underarm in a grid pattern. Generally well-tolerated with minimal discomfort.

Botulinum toxin is FDA-approved for primary axillary hyperhidrosis.
Palm injection for hyperhidrosis treatment
Palmar

Palms of the Hands

Effective for patients who sweat excessively through their hands. The palms are more sensitive than the underarms -- we discuss comfort options at your consultation.

Off-label use of neurotoxin. We'll discuss candidacy and expectations at your visit.
Clothing with visible sweat stain from hyperhidrosis
Craniofacial

Forehead & Hairline

For patients who experience visible sweating across the forehead or along the hairline, targeted neurotoxin injections can significantly reduce sweat in those areas.

Off-label use of neurotoxin. Placement is thoughtful to avoid affecting brow position.
What to Expect

Fast. Simple. Back to Life.

Here's what a typical hyperhidrosis treatment looks like from start to finish.

🕐

Appointment Length

Most visits are under an hour, including consultation, prep, and treatment. The injections themselves take only a few minutes per area.

🔁

When Results Kick In

Sweating begins to decrease within a few days, with full results developing over the first 1--2 weeks after treatment.

📅

How Long It Lasts

Results vary by individual and treatment area. Underarm treatments often last longer than palm treatments. Repeat sessions are needed to maintain results.

🏃

Downtime

Most patients return to normal activity right away. We'll give you specific aftercare guidance for your treatment area at your appointment.

Preparing for Treatment

Before & After Your Appointment

Before Your Visit

  • For underarm treatments: avoid shaving the area for 24 hours prior
  • Do not apply deodorant, antiperspirant, or skincare products to the treatment area on the day of your visit
  • Come with clean, dry skin
  • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that gives easy access to the treatment area
  • Let us know about any medications, supplements, or blood thinners you're taking

After Your Treatment

  • Avoid rubbing or massaging the treated area for the remainder of the day
  • Skip intense exercise and excessive heat (saunas, hot tubs) for 24 hours
  • Avoid applying deodorant or other products to the underarms for 24 hours post-treatment
  • Mild redness or tenderness at injection sites is normal and typically resolves quickly
  • Results take 1--2 weeks to fully develop -- don't judge results the same day
